Job Title: Family Practice Physician (MD/DO)

Time Position Summary: We are seeking a full-time Family Practice Physician (MD or DO) to provide professional medical services and support the delivery of primary health care services. The physician will assess, maintain, and improve the health status of individuals in the communities served. The physician will provide clinical leadership and supervision of midlevel providers and indirect supervision of medical support staff.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited school of medicine with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree. Completion of residency from an accredited program. Previous medical office or FQHC experience preferred. Current unrestricted North Carolina MD or DO license required. Current DEA certificate required. Board Certification in Specialty preferred. BLS and all applicable certifications required and must be obtained within 30 days of employment. Must have or be able to obtain admitting privileges to the local hospital. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and email communication. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly with patients, providers, and clinical staff. Demonstrated leadership, teaching, and evaluation skills. Knowledge of current standards, methods, and procedures for the delivery of evidence-based care. Efficient, organized, and accurate.
Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual in English and Spanish. Experience in public health.
Key Responsibilities: Provide patient-centered medical care to patients and their families. Provide medical evaluation, treatment, and consultation services. Respond to emergencies and answer medical questions. Obtain and document appropriate chief complaint, past medical, family and social history, review of systems, examination, medications, allergies, assessment, and plan for each patient. Provide patient education as needed. Provide medical orders for prescription refills, medication administration, ancillary testing, and referrals. Review ancillary test results in a timely manner and coordinate notification and follow-up with patients. Supervise patient care provided by non-clinic agencies such as home health care, nursing homes, or hospice. Be available to patients personally or through clinical staff to answer questions and relay information regarding their care. Complete all appropriate paperwork in a timely manner, including documentation required for insurance and reimbursement guidelines. Educate patients and/or families regarding the nature of disease, proper care, self-management, and treatment. Work with patients to develop individualized care plans. Supervise assigned midlevel providers in the conduct of clinical care and delegate authority and responsibility when needed. Complete documentation and paperwork requiring physician approval. Assume responsibility for patient cases from midlevel providers as needed, depending on patient acuity. Train and supervise medical students, residents, PA students, and NP students engaged in specialty activities and procedures, as necessary. Participate in quality improvement activities by initiating or contributing to monitoring, measuring, analyzing, improving, and/or controlling program goals, objectives, and services. Review peer and midlevel charts when appropriate and provide feedback to support evidence-based care, peer education, and continual learning. Comply with current incentive, regulatory, and certification reporting requirements, such as Meaningful Use, PCMH, and UDS, as directed. Direct patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the Medical Director.
Physical Requirements: Continuous walking, standing, and moving about. Frequently bends, kneels, and crouches. Repetitive movement of hands and fingers for typing and writing. Ability to talk and hear. Possible exposure to hazardous fumes, airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, bodily fluids, and other related hazards.
