About the role

Job Description: Full job descriptionMOBILE GROOMER / PARTNERPremium Mobile Dog Grooming Chicago Western SuburbsTHE OPPORTUNITYWe are launching a premium mobile dog grooming business serving Chicago’s western and southwest suburbs and seeking an experienced professional groomer who wants more than a traditional grooming position. This role combines professional grooming with the opportunity to help shape a new mobile grooming business from the beginning. The right person will have a meaningful voice in service standards, customer experience, scheduling, operating practices, and future growth. The business will serve clients in communities including Hinsdale, Burr Ridge, Oak Brook, Clarendon Hills, Western Springs, Downers Grove, Westmont, Woodridge, Lemont, Naperville, and surrounding areas.
WHAT YOU WILL DO: Provide premium, one-on-one grooming in a professionally equipped mobile grooming van. Perform bathing, drying, clipping, scissoring, breed-specific cuts, nail care, ear care, de-shedding, and de-matting. Groom a wide range of breeds, sizes, coat types, ages, and temperaments. Recognize pet stress, behavioral concerns, and health considerations and adjust grooming accordingly. Build trusted relationships with pet owners and recurring clients. Communicate grooming recommendations, coat-care needs, and service expectations clearly. Maintain detailed grooming notes and client preferences. Keep the van, equipment, and grooming environment clean, organized, and professional. Operate the company vehicle safely throughout the western suburbs. Help establish the standards and operating practices for future groomers and vans. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR2+ years of professional grooming experience. 3+ years preferred. Strong clipping, scissoring, finishing, bathing, and coat-management skills. Experience with doodles, poodles, mixed breeds, senior dogs, and anxious pets is highly valued. Strong knowledge of animal behavior and safe handling practices. Professional communication and customer-service skills. Dependable, organized, and comfortable working independently. Valid Illinois driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Familiarity with Chicago’s western suburbs strongly preferred. Pet First Aid, CPR, AKC S.A.F.E., NDGAA, IPG, or related training is valued. WHAT WE PROVIDEProfessionally equipped NEW mobile grooming van. Fuel, vehicle maintenance, insurance, and major equipment. Scheduling, customer-management, payment, and routing technology. Marketing and customer-acquisition support. Geographically focused routes designed to limit unnecessary drive time. Premium clientele who value convenience, reliability, and personalized pet care. Quality-over-volume operating philosophy. Professional development and continuing education support. Above Industry Average compensation plus customer tips and performance incentives. Opportunity to help build and lead the grooming operation as the business expands. PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITYThis position is intended for an experienced groomer interested in helping build a business, not simply filling appointments and be rewarded for the business's success and growth. For the right candidate, the role offers an opportunity to participate in the development and growth of the company, including leadership responsibility as additional groomers and vans are added. Partnership structure, compensation, and long-term incentives will be discussed with qualified candidates. IDEAL FITYou take pride in your work, value animal safety, communicate well with clients, and prefer quality over high-volume salon production. You enjoy independence but also want the support, infrastructure, and growth opportunity of a professionally managed business. If you are an experienced groomer interested in mobile grooming, greater autonomy, premium clients, and helping build something from the start, we would like to speak with you.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
