Job Description: Race Car Mechanic - Post-Event Service & Quality InspectionLocation: North Carolina (On-site)
Industry: Professional Motorsports (NASCAR Cup/Xfinity/Truck Series) We are working exclusively with a top-tier motorsports organization to identify a skilled shop-based mechanic to join their technical team. This position plays a vital role in the post-race disassembly, inspection, maintenance, and quality control of high-performance race vehicles and their components. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a competitive race program, where precision, speed, and innovation drive every aspect of the operation.
Key Responsibilities: Dismantle race vehicles following events to prepare for inspection and service. Conduct thorough inspections and evaluations of vehicle components for wear, fatigue, or damage. Perform routine and corrective maintenance to ensure components meet team standards and safety regulations. Utilize Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) and Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI/Zyglo) techniques to identify cracks and defects. Clean, service, and reassemble components to ensure race-readiness. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and documentation in the workshop. Support other technical functions and special projects as assigned by the department lead. Preferred Background & Skills: High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or advanced training a plus. Minimum of 2 years' hands-on experience in a NASCAR Truck, Xfinity, or Cup series environment preferred. Proficient in non-destructive testing methods such as MPI and FPI. Strong familiarity with the mechanical systems of race vehicles, including suspension, drivetrain, and braking systems. Confident using a wide range of hand and power tools (wrenches, jacks, drills, saws, etc.). Comfortable working under pressure in a high-tempo, results-driven environment. Able to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize multiple ongoing tasks. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving mindset.
