The Opportunity: A Top 10 ENR-ranked General Contractor is seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to join its New York City team. This is a senior-level opportunity with one of the country's leading construction firms, working across a diverse portfolio of ground-up developments and complex interior projects throughout New York City. The Lead Estimator will take ownership of projects from early conceptual budgeting through final GMP and subcontractor buyout, working closely with clients, architects, engineers, operations teams, and trade partners.
Key Responsibilities: Lead estimating and preconstruction efforts for ground-up and interior construction projects Develop conceptual, schematic, design-development, and detailed construction estimates Prepare budgets, GMPs, bid packages, quantity take-offs, and detailed cost plans Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documentation to determine scope and pricing Lead subcontractor outreach, bid solicitation, scope reviews, and bid leveling Partner with operations teams on logistics, phasing, scheduling, procurement, and constructability Participate in client presentations, design meetings, and preconstruction strategy sessions
Experience & Qualifications: 8–15+ years of estimating/preconstruction experience Strong experience with a reputable NYC General Contractor or Construction Manager Proven track record estimating ground-up and/or complex interior projects Experience within commercial, corporate, hospitality, residential, education, or healthcare construction Strong understanding of the NYC subcontractor market, construction costs, labor, and procurement environment Compensation & Benefits$190,000 – $250,000 base salary 10–15% annual bonus 401(k) match Competitive PTO package Comprehensive healthcare coverage, including medical, dental, and vision Additional company benefits and employee programs Long-term career progression within a nationally recognized contractor This is an excellent opportunity for an established NYC estimator looking to step into a lead position with a Top 10 ENR contractor, overseeing high-profile pursuits and projects while playing a key role in the continued growth of its New York operation
