Self-Insured Claims Manager Minutemen HR Management Services | Workers' Compensation Full-Time | Exempt
Reports to: VP of Self InsuranceABOUT THE ROLEThe Self-Insured Claims Manager owns workers' compensation claims from start to finish and supports the Vice President of Self Insurance on internal employment matters. You'll work directly with clients to educate, advise, and recommend best practices for claims management and cost containment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO: Claims Management- Exercise independent discretion over day-to-day claims management- Review new injuries, including certification/rejection and return-to-work information- Review and approve/deny C-9 treatment requests- Review all BWC/IC letters, notices, and orders; recommend and file appeals and responses- Determine, review, and submit IMEs- Review and prepare hearing files- Calculate and enter compensation payments; obtain claim-related wages and set AWW/FWW- Set and evaluate claim reserves- Audit all SI TPA payments weekly Settlements & Recovery- Identify, negotiate, and file lump sum settlements- Coordinate SSN checks and MSAs for all potential settlements- Identify, notify, and collect subrogation liens- Identify, notify, and submit reimbursement requests to excess carriers Client Relations- Meet with current customers in person and by phone- Advise employers on return-to-work practices and cost containment strategies- Analyze new clients' losses and attend initial meetings with the assigned CRM to set claim strategy Team & Internal Support- Train and oversee new and current employees as needed- Assist the VP of Self Insurance with annual reviews, internal employment matters, and implementing procedural changes- Attend ongoing internal and external training as needed- Other responsibilities as assignedWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree preferred- Approximately three years of workers' compensation experience- Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Access, and Word- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple demands- Exceptional work ethic, energy, and drive- Alignment with the company's code of ethicsWORK ENVIRONMENT- Office-based role with extended periods of sitting and computer work- Regular phone and face-to-face communication- Occasional travel to office locations and customer sites Minutemen HR Management Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
