About the role
Part Time Custodian The Secaucus Board of Education invites qualified and interested individuals to apply for the position of Part-Time Custodian. To provide students, faculty, and staff of the district with a clean and safe environment to learn, teach, play, work, and develop. Responsible for state-mandated square footage, based on the size of the building and employment status. A full-time custodian is responsible for a minimum of 17,500 square feet. Daily, the custodian will perform the following duties: Sweeping, dusting, mopping, and/or vacuuming floors in assigned square footage. High dusting, cleaning, and polishing furniture/desks. Emptying wastebaskets and delivering waste to dumpsters. Bathrooms: cleaning stalls/urinals; replenishing toilet tissues, paper towels, and soap dispensers; cleaning sinks; mopping floors. Dust-mopping and cleaning gymnasium floors. When applicable, cleaning bleachers and inspecting for any irregularities to ensure bleachers are working properly. Dusting air vents. If necessary, removing and cleaning vents with an appropriate solvent. Custodian assigned to the Multi-Purpose Cafeteria will on a daily basis: Dust mopping, sweeping, and wet mopping floors. Cleaning and properly storing tables. On a semiannual basis, vacuuming freezer coils; cleaning and vacuuming stoves. Washing windows (that do not require the use of scaffolding) on an as-needed basis. Cleaning and changing air conditioner filters seasonally as directed by the Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds. Custodians with a Boiler License must perform all maintenance as directed by the Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds. Building premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, must always be maintained; this includes snow removal. Reporting any act of vandalism or evidence of deliberate littering to the Head Building Custodian and/or the Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds. Performing other custodial/maintenance duties as assigned.

Salary Range: Current starting salary range $26,614.50 as per the 2023-2026 SEA Contract
