About the role
- Must stay current in CPR/PR, AED/O2 and First Aid, renewed annually.
- Must be physically fit in order to demonstrate all levels of aerobic exercises.
- Mentally alert to recognize potential hazards and accidents.
- Physically strong in order to lift excessive weight (minimum of 50 lbs).Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR effectively.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to handle complaining or demanding individuals without internalizing or personalizing such comments.
- Ability to lead and motivate others.
- Recruit new fitness employees to ensure adequate provision of qualified staff.
- Assist Director with Annual Healthy Living Trackers
- Maintain accurate incident/accident reports.
- Monitor certifications for all fitness staff.
- Consult with members interested in personal training program and assist HL program director in assigning trainers.
- Create ways to expand the group exercise programs.
- Work with volunteers for the Healthy Living program.
- Assist with fitness seminars, clinics and special events when possible.
- Help enforce YMCA policies and practices in wellness center.
- Maintain a good rapport with fitness program participants to respond to their needs and to represent the YMCA.Assist the Healthy Living Director in the development of promotional material as well as act in his/her absence.
- Attend staff meetings as requested by the program director.
- Orient new staff to association and branch procedures.
- Develop meaningful and sustainable relationships with members, donors and volunteers.
