An established provider of rugged embedded computing solutions for demanding military, aerospace, industrial, and high-reliability applications is seeking a Senior BIOS / UEFI Engineer to join its Huntsville engineering organization. This role serves as the site's key BIOS/UEFI specialist, working closely with hardware, FPGA, firmware, and software engineers on new product development from initial board bring-up through production.
What you'll do:
Develop and customize UEFI BIOS for new rugged embedded computing products, starting from an AMI BIOS / Intel reference BIOS and adapting it to newly designed hardware Perform BIOS bring-up on newly designed boards Debug hardware/firmware issues during initial board startup Collaborate with hardware, FPGA, and other firmware engineers to validate system functionality Support interfaces such as USB, PCI Express, SATA, and other board-level functionality Carry BIOS development from initial bring-up through production Required qualifications 5+ years of hands-on BIOS development experience (less may be considered for an exceptional background)Strong experience developing UEFI BIOS; modern UEFI experience required rather than legacy BIOS exposure alone Demonstrated experience personally developing BIOS, not simply working with systems that use BIOSExperience with BIOS bring-up on newly designed hardware, where the candidate's BIOS actually ran on the board they helped bring up Strong working proficiency in CAbility to perform low-level programming involving registers, memory, and peripherals Experience customizing or porting BIOS to new hardware Strong understanding of hardware/firmware interaction Experience troubleshooting hardware and firmware integration issues during board bring-up Ability to work directly with hardware engineers and other engineering disciplines Strong communication and collaboration skills Willingness and ability to work full-time on-site in Huntsville, Alabama Hands-on UEFI BIOS development experienceBIOS customization for new hardware Experience with Intel/x 86/x 86-64 platforms Understanding of computer architecture and platform initializationU.S. Citizen or Green Card holder (visa sponsorship not available)
