Senior Network Escalation Engineer – Full Time
Location: Herndon, VA – Onsite
Schedule: Monday–Friday Clearance: Active TS/SCI Required
Position Summary: We are seeking a Senior Network Escalation Engineer to provide advanced technical support for complex Federal customer environments. The role focuses on critical escalations, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and customer engagement, with a strong emphasis on Juniper switching, data center networking, and Layer 2/Layer 3 technologies.
Key Responsibilities: Own and resolve high-priority and business-critical customer escalations. Provide advanced troubleshooting, packet analysis, and root cause analysis. Support Juniper switching and data center technologies. Lead customer escalation calls, technical reviews, and onsite engagements. Develop workarounds, mitigations, and permanent solutions. Collaborate with Engineering, QA, Product Management, and Development teams. Document solutions and create knowledge-base and troubleshooting content. Mentor engineers and drive operational improvements.
Required Technical Skills: 10+ years of networking experience; 7+ years in advanced escalations. Extensive experience with Juniper EX and QFX platforms. Strong Layer 2/Layer 3 networking knowledge. EVPN/VXLAN and data center fabric architectures. BGP, OSPF, multicast, IGMP/IGMP Snooping, and PIM.VLANs, STP/RSTP/MSTP, LACP, VRRP, QoS/CoS, and 802.1X.TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ARP, ICMP, TCP/UDP, and VPN technologies. Strong packet capture and protocol troubleshooting skills. Experience with Linux-based systems and troubleshooting tools. Excellent customer-facing communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Juniper MX, MPLS, L2/L3 VPNs, or SRX firewalls. Python, Perl, Shell, or network automation experience. JNCIP/JNCIE or CCNP/CCIE certifications. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
