About the role

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer looking to work on cutting-edge laser, LiDAR and space technology? We're partnering with an innovative aerospace and defence technology business seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its R&D team in Herndon, Virginia. This is an opportunity to contribute to the development of advanced electro-optical systems, working across exciting short-term projects and longer-term research and development programmes.
The Opportunity: You'll collaborate with talented Electrical, Mechanical and Optical Engineers to develop, integrate, test and troubleshoot electronics for advanced laser systems.
Your responsibilities will include: Designing, developing and troubleshooting circuit boards and electronic systems. Supporting FPGA, CPU and firmware development. Designing cables and electrical harnesses. Leading board-level and system-level integration and testing. Producing clear engineering documentation and verification materials. Contributing to multiple R&D projects, from rapid-turnaround developments to longer-term programmes.
What We're Looking For:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a closely related discipline.8+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience with circuit board design, integration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience using electrical laboratory equipment for circuit development and testing.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and technical documentation skills.
  • Additional Experience That Would Be Valuable
  • Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
  • A Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
  • Development of high-reliability military or space-flight hardware.
  • FPGA/CPLD design, simulation and troubleshooting.
  • LiDAR or other electro-optical systems.
