Role Description:
The Contractor Sales Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in South Elgin, IL. This position is responsible for working directly with contractor customers to understand project requirements, recommend appropriate products, and generate accurate quotes and orders. Day-to-day tasks include managing contractor accounts, responding to inquiries, providing product and application guidance, and following up on leads to convert them into sales. The role involves coordinating with warehouse and operations staff to ensure timely fulfillment, handling in-person and phone-based sales, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of timber, building materials, and irrigation-related products. The Contractor Sales Specialist also tracks sales activity, supports basic inventory and merchandising needs in the branch, and contributes to a positive, service-oriented workplace.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong Customer Service skills, with the ability to build rapport, handle inquiries professionally, and support contractors throughout the sales process. Candidates should possess Sales and Account Management skills, including managing existing contractor relationships, developing new business, and maintaining organized records of opportunities and orders. Candidates should possess knowledge of Lawn Sprinkler parts and Landscape Lighting, with the ability to understand product applications. Relevant experience in contractor or wholesale distribution environments, particularly in construction, irrigation, or building supply, is beneficial. Strong verbal and written communication skills, basic computer proficiency (e.g., POS systems, CRM, email), and attention to detail in quoting and order entry are required. Ability to work on-site full-time in Bensenville, IL, including standing, walking the sales floor, and occasionally assisting with light material handling. College diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or coursework related to construction, irrigation, or business is a plus.
