Reporting to: VP / Head of Finance Unable to sponsor The Opportunity We are working on behalf of a hypergrowth, VC-backed B2B SaaS company in search of a Director of Data. This is a foundational role offering broad ownership over the company’s data strategy and infrastructure. As a high-impact individual contributor, you will be instrumental in building the data function from the ground up and enabling cross-functional visibility and decision-making. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for clean design, scalable systems, and storytelling with data.
Key Responsibilities: Establish and maintain a cloud-native data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks) to serve as a centralized hub for company-wide data sources (Sales, Product, Marketing, Engineering, Finance). Build and manage ETL/ELT pipelines to extract, transform, and load data into the warehouse, with high reliability and efficiency. Define and enforce data validation and quality protocols, addressing inconsistencies, missing values, and ensuring data integrity. Design and implement dashboards and reporting infrastructure (e.g., Tableau, Looker) that act as the definitive source of truth for company metrics. Collaborate with stakeholders to define KPIs and data strategy that align with business priorities and objectives. Lay the groundwork for a scalable analytics function, including potential future team leadership. Serve as a data thought partner across the organization, helping drive growth and operational excellence through insight and automation.
Who You Are: Experience & Skills5–8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or business intelligence, ideally at a high-growth SaaS or tech company. Strong proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience with Python, Java, or Scala. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and data services. Knowledge of modern data warehouse technologies (Snowflake, Databricks), orchestration tools (Airflow), and transformation frameworks (dbt). Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Thrive in early-stage, fast-moving environments and enjoy building things from scratch. Communicate complex data clearly to non-technical audiences. Think holistically about infrastructure, scalability, and design. Understand SaaS business metrics and KPIs, and can interpret both operational and financial trends. Are self-motivated and comfortable wearing multiple hats in an entrepreneurial setting.
