About the role

CytologistA Cytologist is responsible for microscopically examining gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens to identify cancerous or pre-cancerous cells and other pathological findings. The role includes assisting in obtaining diagnostic quality samples and providing feedback on fine needle aspiration procedures.
Key Responsibilities: Screen a designated number of Pap smears. Separate non-gynecologic specimens for further analysis. Engage with pulmonary, interventional radiology, and endocrine specimens. Collaborate with a team of six cytologists and three lab processors. Provide direct patient care opportunities and collaborate with physicians. Maintain a high level of independence and trust from pathologists.
Qualifications: Cytologist certification (CT) from ASCP or eligibility contingent upon passing certification. Bachelor of Science degree is required; new graduates are welcome to apply. Preferred experience with Rose procedures and fine-needle aspiration procedures. Ability to work in a high-stress environment alongside proceduralists.
Work Environment: This position is located in a dynamic academic institution that offers a wide variety of cases. The schedule is full-time (Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM) with no weekend, on-call, or holiday requirements.
