About the role
Student Worker – Library Task Assistant This position works with the Public Services Team in Moody and Jones Libraries to perform circulation-related tasks. Students in this role are responsible for re-shelving used materials, organizing books according to the LC Call Number system, verifying items are in the correct order, and assisting with other tasks as assigned.
Required skills include:
willingness to work as a part of a team, ability to prioritize and take initiative, strong attention to detail, flexible work availability, and consistent attendance and punctuality. Student workers should be able to remain active for the duration of a shift (around 2 hours). Experience with using the library and/or the LC Call Number system is a plus.
Job duties include:
- Perform business operations duties for assigned area of responsibility
- Collect, check in, sort, and reshelve books
- Check levels and conditions of supplies maintained by Public Services Desk (check printers, fill staplers, etc.)Assist with taking inventory of the collection
- Comply with University policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
- Work at least 10 hours per week
- Assist with additional tasks as assigned
