As a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS), you will provide peer support services, serve as a patient advocate, provide patient information and peer support for patients in emergency, outpatient, or inpatient settings. You will perform a wide range of tasks to assist patients in regaining control over their lives and recovery process. You will model competence in recovery and coping.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, maintaining Certified Recovery Specialty credential via the PA Certification Board, self-identifying as a current or former patient, maintaining healthy recovery from substance abuse, excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to verify completion of state-approved training program and passing score on certification exam, current valid driver's license in good standing in state of employment and be insurable by the designated carrier, travel up to 50% may be required for this role. Responsibilities include assisting patients in articulating personal goals for recovery, assisting patients in determining reasonable and holistic steps moving toward recovery, assisting patients in identifying barriers to recovery goals, assisting patients in identifying personal strengths in daily living and recovery skills, observing and reinforcing positive progress that patients make toward recovery goals, teaching problem-solving skills, teaching patients to identify and combat negative self-talk, teaching patients how to identify and overcome fears, supporting the vocational choices patients make and assisting them in overcoming job-related anxieties and conflicts, assisting patients in building social skills by demonstrating and reinforcing proper conduct and respectful interaction, assisting non-patient team in identifying program elements that are supportive or destructive to recovery, assisting patients in identifying and utilizing community support agencies and services, attending treatment team meetings and medication appointments as requested to represent the needs and perspectives of the patient, utilizing their unique recovery experience to teach and role model the value of every individual's recovery experience, maintaining effective coping and self-help techniques, continuing to develop professional skills by maintaining certification through required coursework, attending relevant seminars, and team in-service training whenever offered, investigating community resources for appropriateness of services to patients, maintaining confidentiality of patient information, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries with patients and avoiding dual relationships within the community, supporting treatment team objectives and strategies, fulfilling documentation requirements of employer accurately and in a timely manner, using inclusive, culturally appropriate language and attitudes with all patients and teammates, attending team meetings and completing all training courses timely as required, and other duties as assigned.
