About the role

Company Description: City Hive, Inc. is a leading omnichannel digital commerce and data platform serving the wine, beer, and spirits industry. City Hive connects retailers with wholesalers, distributors, and suppliers through a unified platform that helps merchant partners increase sales, improve operations, and strengthen customer engagement.
Role Description: City Hive is looking for a Sales Development Representative to join a new team focused on helping our existing merchant network unlock additional growth opportunities across marketplaces and direct e-commerce. Unlike a typical SDR role focused primarily on generating leads and booking meetings, you'll work directly with existing City Hive merchants and own the process from initial outreach through successful activation. You'll proactively identify opportunities for merchants to expand their businesses across new channels, guide them through onboarding, resolve issues that could prevent activation, and ultimately get them live. This role is ideal for someone who is highly motivated, comfortable on the phone, organized, persistent, and excited by measurable goals. Your success won't be measured by how many meetings you book—it will be measured by how many merchants you successfully get live.
Qualifications: We're looking for someone who is naturally comfortable taking ownership and driving toward measurable results. You don't need to come from a traditional sales background, but you should be comfortable speaking with business owners and proactively reaching out throughout the day. The strongest candidates will have:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Confidence making a high volume of outbound calls and speaking directly with business owners
  • A persistent, follow-through-oriented approach
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a large pipeline of merchants simultaneously
  • Comfort working toward clear monthly performance goals
  • The ability to learn new software and explain technology in simple terms
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to troubleshoot onboarding issues rather than simply passing them along
  • A collaborative attitude and willingness to share what's working and what isn't with the broader team
  • The ability to work from our New York City office
Experience in customer success, account management, sales development, business development, merchant onboarding, e-commerce, SaaS, or marketplace operations is helpful but not required. Compensation This role includes a $55,000 base salary plus uncapped performance incentives tied directly to results. At target performance, annual compensation is approximately $79,000. High-performing representatives can earn approximately $94,000 annually, with additional uncapped upside for performance above target.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
