About the role
- Evaluate chemotherapy and infusion treatment plans for accuracy and appropriateness.
- Verify medication orders by assessing diagnosis, dosing, drug interactions, allergies, labs, toxicity, and drug-specific monitoring parameters to ensure safe medication administration.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians in the preparation of hazardous and non-hazardous sterile products
- Recommend therapy modifications to providers as clinically necessary to maximize therapeutic benefits and minimize toxicity.
- Participate in developing pharmacist-driven protocols (e.g. carboplatin dosing, dose rounding, etc.)Serve as a drug information resource to other healthcare professionals, including educating on new therapies.
- Product verification of medications dispensed through our specialty pharmacy.
- Assist the research department with the review, evaluation, and roll out of new investigational drug trials
- Analyze drug shortages and inventory needs.
- Develop, review, and assist with implementation of drug protocols and regimen builds.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal regulatory bodies as it pertains to physician-based oncology outpatient clinics.
- Responsible for professional development, including meeting all requirements for continuing education, keeping abreast of current professional literature, and maintaining a pharmacist licensure in good standing.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Pharmacy Specialty Board Certification (BCOP or BCPS)PGY-2 in oncology
- Experience with Epic EHR
- Regularly: sit, grasp, reach, bend, stoop/crouch, talk, and hear
- Occasionally : stand, walk, lift up to 30 pounds, pull/push up to 30 pounds, carry up to 30 pounds
- Vision: clearly see up to 5 feet with or without corrective lenses
