General Purpose Conducts special studies and analyses, develops alternatives, presents recommendations to management and influences management decisions. Researches, analyzes, develops and implements new strategies, programs, and/or processes in response to changing internal and external conditions. Coordinates Fuel Resources support of Net Power Cost testimony and data requests.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual FERC/regulatory reports. Process internal controls to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Support Corporate Accounting in developing monthly general ledger entries. Provide coal cost detail for regulatory filings and answer data requests from internal and external sources. Represent the company in meetings and proceedings with senior management and regulatory commissions. Support coal supply negotiations. Assist in maintaining policies, procedures, business processes, and contract activities. Develop operational knowledge over control center activities. Develop new processes and procedures that impact the business. Identify areas of potential risk and propose process improvements and innovations. Compile, analyze and interpret operating data.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, business management or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of five years experience in accounting or a related field. Experience in financial statement preparation and analysis Strategic, analytical and proficient computer skills. Ability to work with all organizational levels, regulators, and joint owners. Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to establish trust, maintain confidence, and understand social behavior and interactions. Project management and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team member, maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments. Preferences Advanced degree and/or CPA designation. Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Experience working with legal contracts and ability to interpret and apply contractual language. General understanding of utility economics and accounting, FERC Code of Regulations, and utility commission rules and regulations. Experience in SAP Financial Systems modules.
