About the role
Our client is seeking a Risk Control Manager to help strengthen and build out its trading risk control framework.
This is a hands‑on role partnering closely with senior Risk leadership to evaluate existing controls, identify gaps, improve processes, and formalize controls where needed. The focus is risk and controls - not P&L.
We're looking for someone who understands what a strong trading control environment should look like and can serve as a trusted "right hand" in building it.
Key Responsibilities:
Review existing trading and risk controls and identify opportunities for improvement.
Develop, document and formalize controls, procedures and escalation processes.
Establish meaningful risk reporting, KPIs and exception monitoring.
Strengthen controls around:
Trade confirmations and exchange activity
FCM reconciliations
Broker fee tie-outs
Trade-to-ETRM reconciliations (Hitachi Energy TRM)
Curve validation
T0/T1 checks and KPIs
AML/KYC onboarding and annual counterparty reviews
Month-end reconciliations with Finance
Ensure processes are operating consistently with established risk policies.
Partner across Risk, Trading, Operations and Finance to investigate and resolve control issues.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience within energy/commodity trading risk, trade control, middle office, product control or risk operations.
Strong understanding of the trade lifecycle and trading control environment.
Experience with exchange/FCM activity, reconciliations, ETRM controls and exception management.
Ability to assess existing processes and determine what needs to be improved, created or formalized.
Strong process documentation, reporting and stakeholder-management skills.
ETRM/CTRM experience; Hitachi Energy TRM exposure is a plus.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to go beyond simply operating existing controls and play a meaningful role in building a stronger, scalable risk framework.

Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
