About the role
- Job Description Experienced Classic Car Mechanic - American Classics & Muscle CarsWe are an established classic car shop in the Houston area looking to add an experienced mechanic to our team.
- Our shop works exclusively on American classic and muscle cars, with a strong focus on vehicles from the 1950s through the 1970s. We work on everything from routine mechanical repairs and diagnostics to major drivetrain, suspension, electrical, and restoration-related work.
- This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who already has hands-on experience working with older American vehicles and understands the differences between diagnosing a 50-year-old car and working on a modern vehicle.
- Experience should include:
- Carbureted engines and drivability diagnosis
- Ignition systems, including points and electronic ignition
- Engine mechanical diagnosis and repair
- Cooling and fuel systems
- Brakes, steering, and suspension
- Manual and automatic transmissions
- Automotive electrical diagnosis and wiring
- Mechanical restoration and component replacement
- Ability to diagnose problems rather than simply replace parts
- Experience with Chevrolet, Pontiac, Ford, Mopar, Corvette, Camaro, Chevelle, Mustang, GTO, Firebird, C10 and similar American classics is highly desirable.
- We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, and treats customer cars with respect. Many of the vehicles we work on are valuable, restored, or irreplaceable, so workmanship and care matter just as much as speed.
- You should be comfortable working independently, troubleshooting problems, and completing repairs correctly without needing constant supervision.
- Professional automotive repair experience
- Strong experience with classic American vehicles
- Good diagnostic ability
- Reliable and dependable
- Organized and able to keep a clean work area
- Own basic hand tools
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to communicate clearly with the rest of the shop
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
