About the role
To support educational institutions, the Remote Async Writing Tutor (Seasonal) will provide asynchronous writing services and synchronous tutoring, focusing on essay reviews and fostering student development, with a commitment of 15-25 hours per week during peak periods.
Key responsibilities
Deliver thorough, actionable feedback on student essays and writing assignments
Utilize tutoring methodologies, particularly the Socratic method, to enhance students' critical thinking skills
Engage in synchronous tutoring sessions as needed, while primarily focusing on asynchronous support
Required qualifications
1+ year of experience in a college/university Writing Center tutoring role
Degree in English, writing, or a related field with a minimum 3.5 GPA
Proficient with MS Word and Google Docs, and possess a reliable internet connection
Experience in reviewing diverse writing topics, including health sciences and argumentative essays
Ability to commit to a flexible schedule during surge periods from February 1 to May 15
