Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented Scientist 2, Research & Development to support product formulation development, laboratory bench testing, and scientific evaluation within our skincare and personal care innovation pipelines. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing bench-scale prototypes, executing stability studies, analyzing experimental data, and maintaining rigorous technical documentation from initial concept through scale-up.
Key Responsibilities: Formulation & Batching: Prepare, compound, and batch multiple formulation iterations and bench prototypes for skincare and topical products in accordance with target product profiles. Stability & Evaluation: Set up and monitor physical and chemical stability testing protocols (accelerated, room temperature, freeze-thaw); evaluate samples for appearance, odor, color, viscosity, and pH.Laboratory Testing & Data Analysis: Perform standard analytical and physical characterization testing on raw materials and finished formulations; interpret test data to resolve formulation anomalies. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready records in electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN), including batch cards, raw material logs, testing reports, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).Cross-Functional Support: Partner with packaging, regulatory, safety, and supply chain teams to ensure new formulations meet quality benchmarks, regulatory requirements, and production timelines. Required Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline. Formulation Experience: Hands-on laboratory experience formulating skincare, personal care, or cosmetic products (emulsions, creams, lotions, serums, or gels).
Laboratory Competencies: Proven experience with bench-top equipment (viscometers, pH meters, homogenizers, overhead mixers) and stability study execution. Technical Documentation: Demonstrated ability to document experimental results clearly and generate detailed laboratory reports. Collaboration & Mindset: Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, proactive communication, and ability to manage multiple batches and project milestones simultaneously.
