About the role

Para-Educator Bus Attendant Ballard Community School district currently needs part-time paraprofessionals to work in our Transportation Department. Para-educator bus attendants work approximately 15 hours per week. Primary responsibilities include supporting bus drivers in meeting the needs of students with individualized needs, supporting individual and/or small groups of students, and supervising students during their bus ride.
Compensation: minimum hourly base rate is $13.85. Additional compensation is available for related experience and education such as a paraprofessional certificate, AA degree, or BA/BS degree. Qualifications include displaying a basic understanding of the needs of children, ability to relate effectively to children with different academic and behavioral needs, patience and compassion, professional communications skills including active listening, written and oral, ability to physically lift up to 50 lbs, ability to bend, lift, sit on floor, run short distances, and assist physically active students, and demonstrating the emotional maturity and stability necessary for the specialized work involved. Ability to take directions, work with minimal supervision, and follow policies and practices.
