Salary:
Up to $105,000 We are seeking an experienced and personable HR Manager to oversee the day-to-day human resources functions for a growing organization in Glen Allen, Virginia. This is a hands-on HR leadership position for someone who enjoys working closely with employees and managers, solving workplace issues, strengthening company culture, and ensuring HR processes are handled accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day HR operations and serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers. Lead recruiting efforts, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, offers, and new-hire onboarding. Develop and maintain effective onboarding and employee orientation processes. Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions and workplace concerns. Manage employee relations matters and assist managers with performance, disciplinary, and workplace issues. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation. Coordinate benefits administration, including enrollment, employee questions, and communication with benefit providers. Support payroll processes by reviewing employee information, changes, timekeeping, and related documentation. Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, company policies, and HR best practices. Develop, update, and communicate company policies and procedures. Partner with managers on performance reviews, employee development, and performance improvement plans. Track employee data, turnover, hiring activity, attendance, and other HR metrics. Assist with employee engagement and company culture initiatives. Coordinate employee leaves, accommodations, and other employment-related processes. Assist with training and professional development initiatives. Maintain knowledge of changing employment regulations and recommend updates to policies and procedures. Support leadership with special projects and other HR initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
4+ years of progressive HR experience. Previous experience in an HR Generalist or HR Manager role preferred. Strong understanding of employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, payroll, and HR compliance. Experience handling confidential employee information with discretion. Strong knowledge of employment practices and applicable federal and Virginia employment laws. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels. Ability to handle sensitive employee situations professionally and objectively. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Experience with HRIS and payroll systems preferred. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is a plus.
