About the role

Job Title Your responsibilities in a nutshell You will be responsible for conducting studies and evaluations within the framework of public policies carried by the DGE, particularly on issues related to competition in services. You will be required to process, analyze, interpret, and select the most relevant statistical data or exploit academic literature to best respond to the requests formulated by you. These requests notably come from the sectoral services of the DGE during the elaboration of draft laws or from ministerial cabinets. The work will focus primarily on the following issues: (i) Digital platforms: network effects, analysis of markets dominated by large operators (ride-hailing, delivery, tourist accommodation, e-commerce), impact of the Digital Markets Act on French actors. (ii) Regulated professions and barriers to entry: evaluation of access restrictions (numerus clausus, regulated tariffs, zoning) in the professions of law, health, and consulting; causal analysis of past reforms on prices, quality, and access to service. (iii) Retail trade and omnichannel competition: effects of concentrations in the large distribution, fiscal and regulatory equity between physical and e-commerce, local dynamics of competition in local services. The public policy proposals that you may be asked to formulate must be based on strong economic reasoning and quantitative expertise, particularly through the exploitation of new databases: platform data, geolocated SIRENE, OECD PMR indicators, etc. Your work will also result in publications from the DGE (DGE Thema, reports, etc.).Profile Sought The holder of the position must demonstrate versatility and adaptability.
