About the role
Our client is looking for a new Tax Manager. Technical Has attained a degree qualification and has obtained a CPA certification. Manages and performs technical review of all tax returns, identifies and resolves major issues, and involves specialists as appropriate Has a general knowledge and application of the relevant professional standards, emerging laws and regulations, and corporate governance requirements. Applies technical expertise and interprets laws, regulations and standards to formulate client-related recommendations. Utilizes knowledge of recently issued professional pronouncements and regulatory changes relevant to clients and prospective clients. Displays advanced research skills and increased efficiency of research process. Participates in client discussions of tax determination, risks, and exposure with client personnel at all levels of the organization. Develops a thorough knowledge and understanding of tools and systems and processes and can apply them. Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with the IRS and state taxation authorities including appeals, examinations, ruling requests and protests. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of IRS Circular 230 governing the practice of CPAs before the IRS. Engages in self-motivated continuous learning to expand professional knowledge in area of industry expertise. Is actively involved in the training process, including identifying training needs, and preparing and presenting training material. Able to anticipate problems/barriers and helps develop plans to address them. Client Service Is a competent project manager - can plan, manage and deliver quality service on time and within budget. Builds long term relationships with clients – gains trust and respect based on demonstrated understanding of their business and ability to help achieve improvement goals. Responds to clients in a timely manner. Maintains ongoing contact with clients and listens to their needs. Strengthens relationships with clients through knowledge and skill transfer. Continually seeks client feedback as to quality of work, to continually exceed client expectations. Seeks to understand the client’s culture and their business. Uses effective listening and questioning skills to help define problems, present possible solutions and identify opportunities enhance client services. Understands the business environment and changes that are likely to impact clients. Is skilled in understanding client expectations and translating them into practical, implementable assignment/project objectives. Is available for and responds to questions when work is in process. Plans, organizes and controls multiple projects to meet assignment objectives – manages workflow. Projects confidence and credibility in dealing with clients.
