This is a senior leadership opportunity within a Cultural, Institutional, and Higher Education-focused studio. You will lead multiple projects or a single large-scale, highly complex project involving historic and existing buildings. The role combines project leadership, design judgment, technical expertise, and strategic client engagement. You will guide institutional clients through complex decisions while aligning scope, schedules, budgets, contracts, and resources. Working with multidisciplinary teams across several offices, you will coordinate architects, designers, consultants, and project staff. You will play a key role in presentations, project planning, financial performance, staffing, and risk management from planning through completion. Based in New York City, the role offers a hybrid work environment, a salary of $140,000--$160,000 annually, and strong professional development opportunities.\Accountabilities: As Senior Project Manager, you will serve as a key leader across major cultural, institutional, and higher education projects. You will act as the primary client liaison while ensuring project teams have the direction, resources, and coordination needed to deliver high-quality work. Serve as the primary client liaison across multiple projects or a single large-scale, highly complex project. Build and maintain strong client relationships while guiding stakeholders through complex project decisions. Oversee project schedules, budgets, contracts, invoicing, and overall financial performance. Monitor progress, anticipate risks, and resolve issues that could affect project delivery. Estimate fees, define scopes of services, and prepare proposals and contracts appropriate to project scale and complexity. Prepare and lead presentations for clients, commissions, boards, and other stakeholder groups. Communicate design concepts, technical considerations, project priorities, and recommendations clearly. Collaborate with architects and designers to establish milestones and timelines for design decisions and client approvals. Plan staffing across projects and phases, balancing workloads with team experience, strengths, and project requirements. Coordinate internal teams and external consultants to resolve complex issues and maintain continuity throughout project phases. Provide leadership, direction, mentorship, and feedback to project teams. Support professional development while fostering collaboration, accountability, and strong team performance.
Requirements: The ideal candidate brings extensive experience managing complex architectural projects, particularly those involving historic and existing buildings within cultural, institutional, or higher education environments. Strong leadership, client management, financial oversight, and technical capabilities are essential.15 years of relevant professional experience. Substantial experience managing projects involving historic and existing buildings. Experience working with cultural, institutional, and/or higher education clients. Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently or lead a single large-scale, highly complex institutional project. Strong client relationship and communication skills, with experience facilitating complex decision-making. Demonstrated expertise in managing scope, fees, budgets, schedules, contracts, and staffing. Strong design judgment combined with solid technical knowledge. Ability to anticipate workflow, coordination requirements, and resource needs across project phases. Proven ability to lead collaborative teams and delegate effectively. Strong mentoring and staff-development capabilities. Proficiency with software used for presentations, contract documentation, project management, and communication. Working proficiency in Revit. Excellent organization, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
