For more information, please visit nature.com and follow @Nature Portfolio About the Role Nature 's news team seeks an ambitious science reporter for aJanuary-June 2027 internship- a paid, full-time writing position based in our Washington DC or New York City offices (on a hybrid model). Natureis an international journal publishing ground-breaking research; its newsroom, which is independent, produces must-read stories about science and science policy. Our interns are treated like staff reporters. They cover cutting-edge science, as well as activities at US science agencies. They travel locally for stories as appropriate, and write for both the website and print magazine. Initially, interns will be assigned stories, but ideally, will eventually pitch their own. Although they primarily cover news, they will have the opportunity to write features. Top candidates will have a strong background in both science and journalism, and should be enthusiastic about writing stories for an audience of researchers, administrators and decision makers. Past interns have gone on to staff positions, including at Carbon Brief, Smithsonian, STAT, The New York Times, and Nature. News interns will receive an hourly wage of $22.00. This is a full-time role offered in either the New York or Washington, DC office. The location strategy supports the team structure and aligns with business needs.
