HR Manager (Training & Development)
Location: Redwood City, San Jose, or Gilroy, CA - base location flexible; regular travel to all Party Teller stores required.
About the Role: As Party Teller grows from 3 stores to many more, we need someone to build our training foundation from the ground up. The HR Manager (Training & Development) will own new-hire onboarding, store manager development, and the training systems that let every store open strong and run well.
What You'll Do: Design and run the new-hire onboarding and training program for all store roles, from Sales Associate to Store Manager Build a Store Manager training program covering leadership, store operations, scheduling, inventory, and customer service Create training materials, SOPs, checklists, and handbook/e-learning content Establish the company's training system: training calendars, certification milestones, and effectiveness tracking Coach store managers on coaching their own teams; observe and give feedback in-store Partner with HR on recruiting, onboarding logistics, and employee relations as needed Track training completion and measure impact on store performance and retention
Required Qualifications: 5+ years of HR experience, with at least 3 years focused on training / learning & development Experience building training programs from scratch - not just delivering off-the-shelf content Retail, hospitality, or multi-unit operations background strongly preferred Excellent communication and facilitation skills; comfortable training groups in person Organized, hands-on, and excited to build in a startup environment Must be willing to travel regularly to all Party Teller store locations
Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual (English/Chinese or English/Spanish) a plus Experience with seasonal and high-volume hiring ramps
