Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM or 7:00 AM–5:30 PM

First round virtual with cameras on; second round in person. Interviews may include individual and panel discussions. Bill Rate: $35/hrContract Duration: Approximately 12 Months (Possible extension)

About the Role:
We are seeking a Technical Writer to create and maintain documentation supporting maintenance operations. This role combines technical writing with hands-on equipment inspection and collaboration with maintenance teams in an industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, review, and update user manuals, guides, preventive maintenance work orders, job plans, and technical documentation within Maximo CMMS.Validate maintenance instructions against original equipment manufacturer (OEM) manuals and technical specifications.
Verify labor estimates, job steps, and task sequencing against actual field execution and operational standards.
Standardize documentation to align with OEM procedures, internal standards, and documentation best practices.
Create clear, consistent instructions that improve the usability and effectiveness of maintenance tasks.
Collaborate with technicians, supervisors, reliability engineers, and cross-functional teams to gather information and validate updates.
Support data entry, document control, and configuration management within Maximo.
Document technical activities and prepare detailed reports.
Must-Have:
Qualifications Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or similar environment. Ability to read and interpret OEM manuals, technical drawings, and schematics. Excellent written communication and technical writing skills. Strong attention to documentation accuracy, consistency, and formatting. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and common PDF editing tools. Ability to safely climb ladders and stairs, bend, twist, and maneuver in tight or elevated spaces to access equipment. Ability to move between elevated work areas to inspect, photograph, and document equipment and maintenance activities while following safety and PPE requirements. Willingness and ability to work early starts, late hours, overtime, and weekends on short notice. Flexibility to work any shift, including split shifts and across shifts.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
Familiarity with Maximo or similar CMMS platforms.
Experience developing job plans and preventive maintenance procedures.
Understanding of maintenance workflows, labor estimating, and task sequencing.
Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly instructions.
Experience collaborating with technicians, supervisors, and engineering teams.
Knowledge of document control, configuration management, and technical reporting best practices.
Trade certification or an associate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance.
Experience standardizing preventive maintenance programs or supporting CMMS improvements and upgrades.
Knowledge of Lean Maintenance, Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), or similar methodologies.
