About the role
As the main link between vessels, internal stakeholders, and suppliers, you will ensure effective coordination and consistent implementation of galley procedures and operational standards. The role includes responsibility for quality assurance, cleaning standards, and staffing within the galley department, as well as financial oversight, including budgeting, cost control, and contract management.

Subject Matter Responsibility for Galley Management within Odfjell
Tasks
The Manager-Galley Management—
Oversees and supports fleet‑wide galley and victualing operations in a shore‑based managerial role, ensuring consistent quality, safety, cleanliness, and company standards.
Acts as the primary point of contact for third‑party victualing providers.
Follows up on service delivery, performance, and operational matters with victualing providers.
Monitors provisioning and catering costs, supporting budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and budgeting planning initiatives.
Mentors and provides professional guidance to Chief Cooks and onboard galley personnel.
Assists Fleet Managers and Technical Superintendent with budgeting, forecasting, and cost monitoring related to galley operations.
Supports Maritime Personnel Section in the screening of new galley crew in cooperation with relevant departments,
Assists the Competence Department with training initiatives and competence development for galley personnel.
Promotes company values related to safety, wellbeing, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in culinary management, Hospitality Management, or a related field
3–5 years of relevant experience in galley operations, catering, hospitality, or victualing management
Ability to prepare reports including analyses and conclusions
Excellent English communication skills, written and spoken
Proven ability to drive change and continuous improvement proactively
Familiarity with international shipping is an advantage, but not a requirement
Willingness to travel occasionally as required
