Business ClassificationsB2BMarketplaceAbout the RoleThe Company is seeking a Vice President of Legal and Head of Regulatory Affairs to serve as its senior in-house legal advisor and lead the regulatory affairs function. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of legal and regulatory matters, including commercial contracts, corporate issues, regulatory compliance, FERC licensing, policy, disputes, and strategic transactions. This role requires the ability to manage long-term regulatory processes, stakeholder relationships, and to provide clear, practical advice to senior executives. While direct hydropower and regulatory experience is preferred, a strong background in regulated energy or infrastructure is also considered. Key responsibilities for this position include acting as the principal legal advisor to the CEO and senior management, drafting and negotiating various commercial contracts, developing legal and regulatory strategies for FERC licenses, and overseeing compliance with federal and state regulations. The role also involves managing relationships with a variety of stakeholders, leading or supporting public proceedings and advocacy, and maintaining legal and regulatory controls. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor degree, active bar membership, and at least 5 years of relevant legal experience, with a focus on energy, utility, infrastructure, environmental, or other regulated businesses.
