About the role
Summer Sales Internship Great America is a highly successful entrepreneurial company providing equipment financing to businesses across the United States. Our exemplary customer service, our principle-centered business philosophy and our team-based operating approach are key to our success and growth. We have also recently become a bank! We are the country's largest independent, family-owned national commercial equipment finance company in the United States, with headquarters in downtown Cedar Rapids. We invite our summer sales interns into an immersive 10-week experience where you'll acquire consultative and strategic selling skills that any sales organization (including ours) will value, and the satisfaction that you helped Great America achieve greater success. Your primary responsibility will be to learn how to identify new business opportunities. You'll do so while working in each of our core business units, being mentored by sales leaders, established sales professionals, and past interns now employed full-time. You will: Participate in learning activities with new full-time employees and other summer interns across all company functions. Learn how to distinguish a genuine prospect from a sea of suspects and apply your research to outreach activities. Make prospecting calls and shadow our sales professionals as they guide prospects and customers through our consultative sales process. Work with your fellow sales interns to complete a capstone project that directly impacts Great America's success and present your results to the company's senior leadership. Enjoy Great America's culture of volunteering in the community, participating in the Corridor Corporate Games, and other relationship-building activities. Return to college with a sales experience that will inform your future career plans. The best candidates: Are preparing for a sales career after graduating with a bachelor's degree in a business discipline. Pursuit of a sales certification or participation in a sales club is a plus. Have a strong desire to learn and grow through coaching. Enjoy competition and are motivated by customer-focused achievement. Possess strong communication and presentation skills. Are curious, outgoing, and seek to make personal connections that build trust and credibility. Thrive in a teams-based, collaborative environment. What previous interns have to say"I went into the internship not knowing if a career in sales would be right for me. Sales has a certain reputation that we all understand. It was so encouraging to see the Great America sales process and the way they keep customers front and center it is just the opposite of the stereotype. I came away with a changed understanding about how sales can be and wanting to begin a sales career with Great America."- Sam F, summer intern"I was amazed at the culture the way that people help each other and encourage everyone's success. I'm sure there's a lot of good companies out there, but honestly, I can't imagine one that is a better place to work at."- Brady K, summer intern At Great America, we're looking to grow our business through our people. Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
