About the role

PGS Worldwide is seeking an Optical Technician in Woodland Hills, California for an approximately six-month onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will perform precision glass polishing and optical finishing operations using specialized polishing equipment, metrology tools, and established manufacturing processes.
Required Skills: High school diploma or equivalent.5+ years of experience in a precision glass polishing, optics, or related manufacturing environment. Experience setting up and operating precision polishing equipment. Experience polishing glass surfaces to tight tolerances for flatness, surface finish, and angular requirements. Experience using hand tools and precision measurement equipment. Experience with optical metrology equipment such as: Autocollimators Interferometers Digital indicators Ability to interpret engineering specifications and manufacturing instructions. Basic shop math proficiency. Strong attention to detail and quality requirements. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and ERP systems. Strong visual acuity, including the ability to perform detailed work under a microscope. Ability to stand and move for extended periods while working around production machinery. Strong written and verbal communication skills. U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Skills: Experience maintaining and setting up polishing tables to meet surface-finish and flatness requirements. Experience supporting process-development or manufacturing-improvement investigations. Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC).Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles.
What You'll Do: Set up and operate precision polishing machines used for production glass polishing. Perform super-polishing operations to achieve required surface finish, flatness, angles, and other optical specifications. Select, mount, and align specialized attachments and standard tooling. Interpret engineering specifications and manufacturing requirements. Use precision measurement instruments to verify optical component quality. Perform standard shop calculations. Monitor and verify product quality in accordance with applicable process-control procedures. Support process-development and manufacturing-improvement activities. Maintain safe work practices while operating large production equipment. Work Schedule / Shift Full-time onsite in Woodland Hills, California.9/80A schedule.40 hours per week. Pay$45.79 per hour.
