About the role
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Fashion Design & Operations Intern to support the day-to-day operations of a luxury fashion brand based in New York City. This internship is ideal for candidates with an interest or background in fashion, retail, merchandising, marketing, or luxury brand operations. Italian-speaking candidates are strongly preferred due to ongoing collaboration with production partners in Italy. This role offers valuable exposure to the operational and creative side of the fashion industry, including design coordination, merchandising, production planning, and brand operations.
About the host Established in 1999, the company is a luxury fashion brand specializing in ready-to-wear collections with production based in Italy. The internship provides direct insight into the planning, coordination, and operational processes behind high-end fashion collections and international production workflows.
Responsibilities Assist with design and operational support for ready-to-wear collections
Support production planning and coordination activities with Italian manufacturing partners
Assist with merchandising and product organization
Help coordinate fashion operations, inventory tracking, and administrative tasks
Conduct research on fashion trends, competitors, and market developments
Support showroom, retail, and brand presentation activities when needed
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on marketing, operational, and production-related initiatives
Assist with maintaining organized product, sample, and production records
Qualifications Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Fashion Merchandising, Fashion Design, Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field
Strong interest in luxury fashion, retail operations, merchandising, or brand management
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced creative environment
Detail-oriented with strong multitasking abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general digital tools
Preferred qualifications Italian language skills strongly preferred
Previous experience in retail, fashion, merchandising, marketing, or luxury brand environments
Familiarity with fashion production processes and garment lifecycle management
Interest in design operations, fashion merchandising, or production coordination
