Quality Engineer Or Quality Engineering Technician We are seeking a Quality Engineer or Quality Engineering Technician to support a flash welding process that is relatively new to the manufacturing operation. The selected candidate will receive training to lead the process, maintain accurate processing and part traceability records, and coordinate with the quality team and New York division to support quality and delivery requirements. This role combines quality responsibilities with hands-on manufacturing support, including operator training and occasional welding operation. When welding department needs are met, the individual will support other quality engineering activities under the Quality Manager.
Key Responsibilities: Complete training in the flash welding process and assume responsibility for day-to-day process leadership and support. Maintain complete, accurate, and organized processing records, part identification, inspection results, and other documentation required for traceability. Work closely with the quality team and New York division to communicate part status, resolve quality or processing issues, and maintain delivery requirements. Support the welding operator with process guidance, troubleshooting, and training as needed; help maintain clear work instructions and training records. Perform the flash welding process, following training and authorization, for process development, continuous improvement, or emergency backup coverage. Monitor process results, identify concerns or variation, and work with the appropriate teams to implement and document corrective actions. Support improvements to process consistency, documentation, quality, and manufacturing efficiency. Perform other quality engineering or technician functions when welding department workload permits, including inspection support, nonconformance review, root cause analysis, and quality established safety procedures, quality requirements, and approved process controls.
Required Qualifications: Experience in manufacturing quality engineering, quality technology, inspection, or a related technical role. Excellent recordkeeping skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain reliable process documentation and part traceability. Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions and use appropriate inspection and measuring equipment. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills; ability to coordinate priorities across departments and and mechanical aptitude to learn the flash welding process, support operator training, and perform hands-on welding duties as needed. Ability to work independently within established procedures and contribute to a collaborative quality and manufacturing team.
Preferred Qualifications: Technical training or education in quality, manufacturing, engineering, or a related field. Experience with welding or joining processes, process development, corrective actions, and continuous improvement is a plus. Prior flash welding experience is helpful; training in the specific process will be provided.
