About the role

Pay: $30/hour Commitment: Hourly Mercor is seeking experienced Telugu Linguistic Experts to join a cutting-edge AI research project in partnership with a leading research lab. This role centers on evaluating how effectively a large language model (LLM) performs in Telugu-language tasks and on curating high-quality Telugu linguistic data to train and improve the model's understanding and generation capabilities.
Key Responsibilities: Evaluate the quality and accuracy of LLM-generated Telugu text across various use cases (e.g., translation, summarization, dialogue, grammar correction). Edit, refine, or rewrite Telugu content to meet linguistic and cultural standards. Annotate Telugu text for grammatical, syntactic, and semantic features. Identify model errors and language gaps, and collaborate with AI researchers to improve LLM performance. Provide detailed linguistic feedback and analysis to guide ongoing model training efforts. You're a strong fit if you have: Native or near-native fluency in Telugu, with excellent command over grammar, syntax, and stylistics. Professional experience in translation, editing, linguistic annotation, or NLP data work in Telugu. Strong understanding of linguistic nuances, regional variations, and context-appropriate usage. Interest in AI and LLM-driven language technologies (preferred but not required). Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot subtle errors or unnatural phrasing. Clear communication skills and experience working in distributed, remote teams.
Why Join: Contribute to cutting-edge AI research in partnership with a leading research lab. Work on high-impact projects that directly support the development of advanced AI systems. Gain hands-on exposure to state-of-the-ary AI research and development. Join a fast-moving project where your expertise and judgment can have a meaningful impact.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
