Role Description: The Junior Quality Assurance Engineer is a full-time, remote role responsible for supporting the testing and validation of software systems used across Selma City Schools. The person in this role will execute manual test cases, document test results, and help identify, track, and verify defects in collaboration with development and product teams. Daily tasks include reviewing requirements, creating and updating test cases, performing test execution across different environments, and participating in test planning and status meetings. The Junior Quality Assurance Engineer will assist in maintaining testing documentation, contributing to regression testing cycles, and supporting continuous improvement of QA processes and standards.
Qualifications: Foundational software testing skills, including Software Testing and Quality Assurance, with an understanding of testing life cycle and basic testing methodologies. Hands-on experience or training in Test Execution and working with Test Cases, including documenting test steps, expected results, and actual outcomes. Practical knowledge of Manual Testing techniques, including functional, regression, and usability testing of web or desktop applications. Ability to clearly document defects, communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and follow established QA processes and tools. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote environment. Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Familiarity with issue-tracking tools (e.g., Jira or similar), basic understanding of version control, and interest in learning test automation are beneficial.
