About the role
- Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations on newly admitted patients.
- Evaluate patients presenting for inpatient admission from the Emergency Department, transfer facilities, and direct admissions.
- Develop evidence-based diagnostic and treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory studies, imaging, and diagnostic testing.
- Initiate appropriate medical therapies and prescribe medications within scope of practice.
- Coordinate admissions efficiently while maintaining quality and patient safety.
- Collaborate with consulting specialists and interdisciplinary care teams.
- Document complete admission evaluations and treatment plans in the electronic medical record.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and expected hospital course.
- Initiate consultations and referrals when patient needs exceed scope of practice.
- Perform procedures within credentialed scope and demonstrated competency.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support departmental goals.
- Maintain compliance with Baylor Scott & White policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards.

- Required Education
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Required Certifications & Licensure
- Current Texas Physician Assistant licenseNCCPA Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer
- Hospital Medicine or inpatient clinical experience preferred
- Strong interest in acute inpatient medicine
- New graduates with relevant inpatient clinical rotations are encouraged to apply
