About the role

Job Description: The State Public Health Laboratory is seeking an experienced Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Project Manager to lead and coordinate the implementation of a new LIMS platform. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive project plan that supports the laboratory’s business, technical, regulatory, and operational objectives while ensuring the implementation remains on schedule and aligned with quality expectations. The Project Manager will oversee the full implementation lifecycle, including project planning, requirements coordination, system configuration activities, laboratory testing, validation, deployment, and go-live readiness. This role will serve as a central point of coordination across laboratory personnel, state departments, technical teams, vendors, and other key stakeholders, establishing project milestones, tracking dependencies and deliverables, managing risks and issues, and providing regular project status reporting to leadership. The ideal candidate will bring previous hands-on experience managing a LIMS implementation within a laboratory environment and should have a strong understanding of laboratory workflows, testing processes, system validation, and the operational considerations involved in transitioning a laboratory to a new LIMS. Experience supporting public health, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or other regulated laboratory environments is strongly preferred. The Project Manager will also partner closely with the LIMS vendor's project management team to ensure resources, timelines, testing activities, and deliverables remain aligned throughout the implementation. Strong attention to detail, quality focus, stakeholder management, risk mitigation, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical for success in this high-visibility initiative.
Skills and Requirements: 5+ years of project management experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, public health, or laboratory environments, with a strong focus on LIMS implementations. Demonstrated experience managing a LIMS implementation from planning through testing, validation, deployment, and go-live. Previous experience working directly in or supporting a laboratory environment, with an understanding of laboratory workflows, testing processes, and LIMS-related operational requirements. Strong experience managing complex, cross-functional projects involving multiple departments, vendors, technical teams, and business stakeholders, including project plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, budgets, and executive-level status reporting. Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Power BI, Visio, Excel, and the broader Microsoft Office suite. Experience with laboratory system validation, user acceptance testing (UAT), go-live readiness, and post-implementation stabilization. We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. We are an equal employment opportunity/affirmative action employer that believes everyone matters. Qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, national origin, ancestry, genetic factors, age, disability, protected veteran status, military or uniformed service member status, or any other status or characteristic protected by applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances. If you need assistance and/or a reasonable accommodation due to a disability during the application or the recruiting process, please send a request to HR@insightglobal.com.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
