Each piece reflects Ippolita’s belief that jewelry should be both expressive and empowering - an everyday celebration of individuality.
Position Overview:
IPPOLITA is seeking an experienced and creative Senior Jewelry Designer to support the design vision and creation in New York City. Working closely with Ippolita Rostagno and the Creative Director, the Senior Jewelry Designer will translate the artistic vision of the brand into compelling, beautifully executed product while serving as a steward of the IPPOLITA aesthetic. This individual will play a central role in collection concept development, identifying the strongest creative opportunities and ensuring that every design is viewed through the IPPOLITA lens. The ideal candidate combines an exceptional design eye with deep technical jewelry expertise, strong commercial judgment, and extraordinary organization. This hands-on design role requires someone who can move fluidly between concepting, designing, editing, elaborating prototypes with model makers and technical spec sheet execution. The position is fully on-site and 5 days in office at our New York City studio to foster close collaboration across Creative, Design, Merchandising, Product Development, and Production.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a steward of the IPPOLITA aesthetic, ensuring all designs reflect the brand vision, design DNA, and luxury positioning. Partner closely with Ippolita Rostagno and the Creative Director to translate the brand’s artistic vision into compelling, cohesive, and commercially relevant product. Drive collection concept development, identifying the strongest creative opportunities and translating them into clear product directions, mood boards, sketches, and designs. Apply deep expertise in fine jewelry design and construction, including precious metals, gemstones, craftsmanship, manufacturing techniques, proportions, and wearability. Develop and evaluate prototypes and samples with a critical eye for design, construction, quality, and execution, ensuring the integrity of the original concept is maintained through production. Balance creativity with commercial and production feasibility, considering cost, manufacturing requirements, timelines, quality standards, and scalability throughout development. Partner closely with Product Development, Production, Merchandising, Marketing, and external vendors to successfully translate creative concepts into finished product and compelling brand stories. Maintain awareness of relevant design trends, cultural movements, materials, techniques, and consumer insights, interpreting them through the distinct IPPOLITA lens. Support special projects, collaborations, and one-of-a-kind designs for editorial, VIP, and celebrity clients.
Requirements:
8+ years of professional experience in fine or luxury jewelry design, with at least 5 years working within a design team. Bachelor’s degree in Jewelry Design, Fine Arts, or related field (or equivalent experience).Exceptional creative vision and strong understanding of form, proportion, and materials, especially in precious metals and gemstones. Deep familiarity with the jewelry development process - from sketch to sample to production – and knowledge of jewelry construction, materials, gemstones, manufacturing processes, and craftsmanship. Hands-on jewelry and bench skills a plus. Proven ability to collaborate within a creative team including strong communication skills and the ability to present ideas effectively to cross-functional partners and executive leadership. A strong portfolio demonstrating a clear creative vision, excellent execution of concepts and an understanding of luxury jewelry. A design exercise will be included as part of the interview process. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance creative ambition with commercial, cost, timing, and manufacturing considerations. Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to balance artistry with commercial awareness. Technical know-how and basic computer literacy required, including CAD, Photoshop and Illustrator or equivalent tools. Interested candidates should include a portfolio when applying.
