- North Carolina High-Pressure Stationary Engineer Certification (Class 1 required)
- Must meet requirements of VHA Directive 1810.OSHA 10-Hour Safety Certification
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Certification
- Confined Space Entry Certification
- Knowledge/training in Water Treatment and Boiler Chemistry (strongly preferred/required by SOW).3 to 5 years of direct experience operating high-pressure industrial or commercial steam boiler systems

- All candidates must be able to:
- Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
- Lift up to 20 lbs
- Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
- Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
