THIS IS A NON-CAREER APPOINTMENT THAT IS LIMITED TO 129 HOURS PER MONTH This position assists MDOT historians by conducting research, entering data, and maintaining files related to culturally significant resources and the effects of MDOT infrastructure projects on those resources. Items produced by this employee will support compliance with applicable cultural resource laws and policies. Duties include researching historic properties that may be affected by infrastructure projects, collecting and compiling mapping data related to historic properties and their locations, organizing and storing research materials for use by historians, locating and compiling information from sources such as the Library of Michigan, the State Archives, the Internet, project plans, photographs, handwritten documents, digitized newspapers, maps, Sanborn fire insurance maps, and local histories, and performing other project-related tasks. A valid driver's license is required to conduct research tasks. Work may be performed at a computer and in libraries, historical centers, and field locations. Education Current enrollment in vocational or technical school, or post-secondary educational institution. MDOT requires enrollment in at least six credit hours per semester/term excluding summers and continuously enrolled and earning the required credits.
