About the role

Job Description: As a member of the plant management team, you are accountable for the supervision and operating results of the production shift to include scheduling, efficiency, quality, safety, housekeeping, health, and environmental requirements.
Responsibilities will include: An undergraduate degree in an engineering, technical, or related field of study preferred or combination of education and related experience. A minimum of three to five years of progressive supervisory experience in a unionized manufacturing facility. Excellent communications (oral & written) and interpersonal skills. Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Ability to interact with customers to solve problems and promote new business opportunities. Good judgment and the demonstrated ability to interact with hourly employees, union representatives, co-workers and managers at all levels of the organization, along with outside vendors, lawyers, and consultants. Strong reasoning skills and ability to analyze problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and Email. Knowledge of 5s and Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Direct and coordinate activities of hourly workers engaged in operating a variety of machines used to produce plastic. 1. Compounds and blends. 2. Accountable for meeting customer and corporate requirements through the safe and efficient operation of the plant. 3. Responsible for department/shift quality, performance and safety including establishing and maintaining excellent housekeeping. 4. Standards. 5. Manage line staffing for each shift including scheduling of vacations, personal days, etc. for employees. 6. Investigate accidents and administer safety policies and procedures. 7. Monitor compliance and execution to established standards, policies, and procedures. 8. Provide correctivecoaching/counselingif/when necessary.
Qualifications: 1. Strong technical knowledge of plasticcompounding/extrusion 2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 3. Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills 4. Strong reasoning skills, ability to analyze problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 5. Experience with Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma is a plus.
