About the role
- Comply with policies established by IDEA-B and State licensure laws, rules and regulations for Special Education, and the local board policy in the area of assessment, timelines, placement and planning for Special Education students.
- Assist the SLP with speech, language and hearing screening without clinical interpretation
- Plan and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech/language goals contained in Individual Education Plans (IEP) under the direction of the licensed supervisor.
- Collect accurate data and session notes to assist Speech Language Pathologist in completion of progress report.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom-based activities to improve oral and written language skills of students under the direction of the licensed supervisor.
- Attend regularly scheduled speech therapy meetings.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Comply with policies established the Code of Ethics from the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
- Administer routine tests, without clinical interpretation, as directed by supervisor when the licensed supervisor has assured proper training and administration of such tests.
- Serve as a liaison between the SLP and the campus staff.
- Adhere to professional and ethical standards, in accordance with generally accepted community standards and the Texas Education Agency Code of Ethics.
- Develop needed professional skills appropriate to job performance.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and the Superintendent of Schools.
