Job Description: Controller – Food & Agriculture Central Valley, California | On-Site | Confidential Search Talent Resource Professionals has partnered with a well-established, privately held agricultural and food processing company in California’s Central Valley to identify an experienced Controller to join its leadership team. This is a hands-on financial leadership position with responsibility for the company’s accounting and financial functions. The Controller will work closely with senior leadership, operations, and the Board of Directors, providing the financial analysis and insight needed to support profitability, operational efficiency, and long-term decision-making. We are particularly interested in someone who understands that a Controller in a privately held agricultural or food business often wears multiple hats and is comfortable being both strategic and hands-on.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and develop the accounting team Oversee monthly close and financial reporting Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial projections Analyze profitability, operating performance, expenses, and variances to budget Prepare financial reporting and analysis for senior leadership and the Board of Directors Manage cash flow and short- and long-term cash requirements Oversee banking and lender reporting Maintain appropriate controls over inventory, fixed assets, and other company assets Provide oversight of AP, AR, general ledger, and related accounting functions Partner closely with operations to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability Coordinate year-end reporting with the company’s outside CPA firm Lead and participate in internal and external audits Maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAPAssist senior leadership with additional financial, insurance, benefits, and administrative responsibilities as needed
What We’re Looking For: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting Previous accounting leadership experience Strong budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and financial analysis skills Ability to communicate financial information effectively to senior leadership and a Board of Directors Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities High degree of integrity and ability to handle confidential information Experience within agriculture, food processing, manufacturing, or a related industry is strongly preferredCPA, CMA, MBA, or other advanced credentials are a plus
