About the role
Senior Financial Analyst As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will perform research work and prepare financial analysis necessary to improve and grow the business. This role is intended to be aligned with the Fresh side of the H-E-B business, with a likely focus on the Meat and/or Seafood teams. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions: Analytics: Designs and develops analysis processes focused on providing a financial solution Performs highly complex analysis of information used to make decisions on implementation of strategic programs and changes Evaluates / scorecards innovative, strategic programs to measure effectiveness Performs regular financial reporting on a consistent cadence (week, period, quarter) as well as ad hoc, project-based analysis, both in support of a specific Merchant department and its leadership team Build and manage annual department budget Advising: Acts as consultant on P&A programs, processes, policies Acts as strategic advisor to Merchant team on category strategy, financial performance, and other areas to drive business results Project Management: Develops and implements performance improvement strategies, evaluates ongoing project performance Participates in cross-departmental projects Leads cross-functional special projects as necessary The responsibilities and essential functions outlined above describe the general nature and level of work assigned to this position. Employees may be required to perform other job-related tasks as requested by their supervisor, subject to reasonable & Key Requirements: Work Experience: 6 - 8 years of experience in financial analysis Preferred: some working experience in the retail meat and/or seafood industry
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Working knowledge of retail accounting-finance principles related to developing forecasting / budgeting / decision models
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsAdvanced level facilitation and project management skillsAdvanced PC skills, with particular attention to Excel, Powerpoint, Tableau, and SQLAbility to storytell beyond analysis with the use of advanced visualization techniques
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and Partners
- Ability to build relationships and work complex issues with senior management using highly-developed influencing skills
- Ability to manage large-scale projects from conception to implementation
- Ability to produce work that impacts management decisions and business results
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with little supervision
- Self-directed; motivated to get results independently
- Strong attention to detail
Education:
A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience Licenses/Certifications (preferred, not required): CPA CMAPhysical Demands & Working Conditions: Function in a fast-paced, retail, office environment Travel by car or airplane with overnight stays Sit for extended periods of time Work extended hours The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Partner encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
