We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical CAD Draftsman to join our dynamic, on-site team in Springfield, Illinois.
Job Summary:
As an Engineering CAD Draftsman, you will play a critical production role in developing accurate electrical, HVAC, and plumbing layouts and construction documents. You will work closely with our architects, project managers, and engineers to coordinate mechanical/electrical systems with architectural and structural elements. This is a fully on-site position at our office on South Sixth Street in Springfield.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed electrical, HVAC, and plumbing drawings and schematics using AutoCAD.Coordinate mechanical/electrical designs and equipment locations with architectural and structural plans. Modify and revise technical drawings based on engineering changes, field measurements, and project manager redlines. Ensure all mechanical/electrical drafting complies with relevant codes, industry standards, and project specifications. Maintain organized digital project files, drawing logs, and equipment schedules.
Qualifications and Skills
Experience:
1 to 5+ years of professional mechanical/electrical drafting or MEP coordination experience in an engineering, architectural, or construction office setting.
Technical Skills:
Absolute proficiency in AutoCAD is required. Experience with Revit MEP or BIM coordination is a strong asset. Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of electrical systems, HVAC distribution, plumbing layouts, and standard construction drafting conventions. Detail-Oriented: Exceptional accuracy in producing technical documentation, interpreting engineering markups, and maintaining drafting standards. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate effectively with an in-house design team and external consultants.
