Department: Finance & Accounting Our client is a prestigious international law firm advising leading private equity firms, investment managers, and major corporations on complex transactions, litigation, and restructuring matters. The firm is seeking an experienced Senior Billing Coordinator to join its New York Finance and Accounting team. This is a highly visible opportunity supporting the firm’s largest client. You will work directly with the partners managing that relationship, serve as their primary billing contact, and oversee assigned portfolios from proforma distribution through invoice payment.
About the Opportunity: For a legal billing professional seeking greater ownership and direct partner interaction, this role offers responsibility for a significant client relationship within a sophisticated global firm. You will manage complex billing arrangements, help forecast billing and collections, and work closely with attorneys and finance colleagues to keep the revenue cycle moving.
Responsibilities: Manage billing for an assigned group of attorneys and client accounts. Prepare, review, and finalize invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to client requirements. Coordinate billing edits, adjustments, and approvals with attorneys and support staff. Submit electronic invoices and resolve billing questions or rejected submissions. Review outstanding balances and assist with collections follow-up. Maintain accurate billing records, client rates, and account information. Prepare reports on billing activity, unbilled time, and outstanding receivables. Work with the finance team to meet monthly deadlines and improve billing processes.
Qualifications: Five or more years of legal billing experience. Experience with Elite, 3E or Aderant. Familiarity with electronic billing platforms and client billing guidelines. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Clear communication skills and experience working with attorneys and accounting teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Ability to work independently, resolve billing issues, and collaborate with colleagues. College degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
