About the role
Curb Transportation Specialist The individual in this classification provides safe curb transportation to Strongsville Seniors and qualified adult disabled residents. Examples of DutiesPicks up passengers at home or other facility. Provides the assistance required to safely board passengers. Ensures wheelchairs and passengers are properly secured before starting van. Depending on route, may pick up several passengers for a common destination. On arrival, assists passengers in exiting the van and reaching the proper destinations. Checks the van to ensure that no personal items are left behind. Provides first-aid or CPR if required during passenger transport. Immediately notifies emergency staff and dispatcher if skilled assistance is required. Ensures passengers reach their destinations safely and on time. Reports vehicle problems to dispatchers or City mechanics. Submits accident reports when needed. Conducts routine maintenance on vehicles including adding gasoline, tire pressure; ensures more specialized maintenance and repairs are performed. Observes safety regulations and state laws regarding vehicle operation; ensures passengers also follow applicable safety regulations. Completes any necessary reports. Maintain current training certificates per ODOT and Cuyahoga County Division of Senior & Adult Services guidelines. Typical Qualifications Excellent driving skills. Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Excellent time management skills. Thorough understanding of traffic regulations, road signs and routes. Must be reliable and capable of working independently and remaining calm in case of an emergency. Must hold a currently valid driver's license and have an excellent driving record. High school diploma or equivalent and fluency in English required. Satisfactory completion of City training program in passenger assistance techniques and map reading. Satisfactory completion of CPR, first-aid training or certificate indicating prior successful completion of such training.
